In the heart of the French Normandy Countryside, awaits for you, an experience both unique and evocative.
Unique, because we have created an English tea room with sights, sounds and feel of a bygone era and evocative, as we take you back in time to experience an era, the 1940’s, so dear to all our hearts.
Whether in the peace & calming atmosphere of
Poppys tea room, with it’s charming old oak furniture and 1940’s artifacts and sounds or in the tranquility of Poppys English cottage garden, you can enjoy that quintessential of experiences, “
afternoon tea”.
Situated in the beautiful Normandy village of Montchamp, a village with history dating back to William the Conqueror, you can also, experience the
Poppys museum and Second World War
battlefield tours. During WW2 Montchamp was at the heart of General Montgomery’s breakout from the DDay landing beaches and indeed, was liberated from occupation by the German 9th SS Panzer Division on 4th August 1944 by the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards of the British 11th Armoured Division.
Our museum is dedicated to the memory of these brave British soldiers and to the young Frenchmen of the French Resistance, who fought and died for the freedom we all enjoy today.
When visiting us, you can also visit in our neighbouring village of St Charles de Percy, the British War Cemetery, where lie almost 1000 of “our boys”, as Dame Vera Lynn called them.
Thank you for your interest, we hope to welcome you to
Poppys tea room,
museum and
battlefield tours soon and you will find lots more information on the other pages of our Poppys Normandy website.
